What Is The Secret in The Last Supper? – WMSCOG
When you look at the picture “The Last Supper”, what comes to mind; Leonardo da vinci, or Jesus and His disciples? Do you know what this picture, “The Last Supper” was called? Fact of the matter is, people have called this picture The Last Supper after He died. Then why have people called this picture the last supper? It is because Jesus had the last the supper with His disciples before his suffering on the cross. That’s why people have called it as the last supper. However, there is a very important secret for our salvation in this picture “the Last Supper”.
The Bible says that only those who know the secret can enter the kingdom of heaven. Can you guess what the secret of this picture is? If we study the Bible, we can clearly notice its secret is the Passover.
Matthew 26:17-19 On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover? He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, “The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.
Jesus ordered us to keep the Passover. Then what is the reason why God came to this earth as a man in the flesh and ordered us to keep the Passover?
John 6:53 Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
Jesus said that if we don’t eat His flesh and drink His blood, we have no eternal life. But Jesus promised that whoever eats His flesh and drinks His blood has eternal life. We can clearly understand why Jesus ordered us to keep the Passover. Then can we eat His real flesh and drink His real blood? No, we can’t. So Jesus let us know how to eat His flesh and to drink His blood.
Luke 22:19-20 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”
Jesus said that His flesh is the Passover bread and His blood is the Passover wine. This is the way we can have eternal life. So Jesus eagerly wanted His disciples to keep the Passover before his suffering on the cross (Lk22:15). The reason is only those who have eternal life can go to the kingdom of heaven.
Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear form their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
In the kingdom of heaven, there is no death but on earth we are destined to die. It means that we cannot go to heaven if we don’t have eternal life. It is God’s will that Jesus earnestly wants us to have eternal life through the Passover. Which church must we go to and keep the Passover to receive eternal life? Only World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) keeps the Passover the way Jesus taught us. God gives us a chance to return our hometown, heaven, through the Passover.
