All the little Things Fragrances

Memories of this world – are they ours or not?

This past week I saw the movie ‘Still Alice.’ The movie itself was very sad and made me think about how we have no control over things that happen in this world and also how grateful I must be to our Heavenly Father Christ Ahnsahnghong and New Jerusalem Heavenly Mother (God the Mother) for leading me to the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) where I have the hope for salvation and eternal life.

In the movie Dr. Alice Howland who is a smart, ambitious, professor of linguistics at Columbia University, is diagnosed with early onset of Alzhiemer’s disease. She prides herself in the fact that she is intelligent, well-spoken and well-educated and ironically these are the things that the disease takes away from her. As the disease slowly takes away her ability to remember as well as her memories, the bond between her and her family is tested.

In one scene her neurologist says that ‘the more educated a person is, the faster they decline.’ Alice Howland is the epitome of educated. She was someone who commanded the room whether she was lecturing or with her family, but in the end it was the disease that won the fight. Although her courage and bravery was inspiring it made me feel how empty this life truly can be. No matter how smart, successful or famous someone is, they are still susceptible to the tragedies of this life. Alzheimer’s disease is a very unfortunate disease and I pray that no one has to go through what Alice Howland had to go through. But the movie made me think of some very wise words of a man.

Ecclesiastes 12:12-13 … Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body. Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

Faith to Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother is my duty. Because God has prepared a beautiful place for us.

Thank you Heavenly Father Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother.
