We are well aware that volunteer work is something noble and precious. The World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) performs volunteer work as a way to glorify Christ Ahnsahnghong and God the Mother by helping our neighbors in need as well as the community. However, without knowing its true nature, God’s abundant blessings cannot be guaranteed. Then, what would be the most important element we should keep in mind in doing volunteering work?
First, we should be the one serving others.
If he/she is already arrogant inside and wants to be higher than others, it will definitely defame the genuine meaning of ‘ volunteer work ‘. Jesus who was God already came down to this earth and set an example of obedience and service to others. God Himself who was clothed with flesh just like us had lived a life of servant only for us-sinners. Remembering His great lesson to us, we should all try to become the one who is the first to serve others so God will pour down the heavenly blessings and grace on us abundantly.
Second, we should do our best even to the merest and smallest things.
God said, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much (Lk. 16:10)” and the same applies to the volunteer work. Good service does not necessarily mean something invested by a lot of materials and time. Even if it may seem to be very trivial, if we do our best with a loyal heart, then God would surely give us abundant heavenly blessings.
Lastly, we should do volunteer work with the spirit of sacrifice.
Without having a spirit of sacrifice, we are apt to be full of arrogance. If that’s the case, it will naturally bring about conflict. Only the volunteer work combined with love and sacrifice could truly please God and all the people in need. Only when the true volunteer work is successfully made, the unification of brothers and sisters are made, which enables all of us to have abundant blessings and mercy from God.
On June 20th 2015, the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) was awarded with a presidential citation. The church has been doing many volunteer activities for more than 10 years in various fields across the world including US, Japan, Australia and so on.
God said, “if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward.” (Matt.10:42) This means that whatever we do to our church as well as brothers and sisters, God will surely give us back with great blessings even if it is very mere and small. All the brothers and brothers from the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) who had participated in and joined all types of big and small volunteer activities must have had the same mind believing in God’s promise to them with a cheerful mind. Hopefully, just like World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) with a beautiful and humble mind like that of God the Father, Christ Ahnsahnghong and God the Mother, there should exist many churches that earnestly want to serve others and the community in need.
