Love (Interstellar pt. 2) – we can find “True Love” in Christ Ahnsahnghong and Heavenly Mother
I know there are many different kinds of love in this world. Some people love pizza, some people love themselves, some people love their family but what is true love? I once read a science article that basically said love is a chemical response; the release of hormones in our bodies that trigger an emotional response and that in turn makes our hearts beat fast, our tongues tied, give us butterflies in our stomachs and makes us do things we wouldn’t normally do. But what is true love?
In the movie Interstellar, three scientists are discussing which planet they are going to visit next. Both planets are habitable but both have their drawbacks. One planet is close but orbiting a black hole and the other planet has better living conditions but is months away. Cooper wants to go to the closer one because once they set up camp on this planet he can go back to the earth to his daughter. The other scientist, Dr. Amelia Brand, wants to go the planet which is months away because she’s in love with the scientist there and the thought of seeing him excites her. Cooper and Brand argue over which one to go and since they’d run into a big problem while visiting the previous planet, Brand wants to follow her heart this time while Cooper wants to follow the scientific data. Brand says that love is the one thing that transcends dimensions of time and space, that even though they don’t understand love, they should trust the feeling they get from it because it’s powerful, observable. She also says that maybe its evidence, some artifact of a higher dimension that we can’t consciously perceive. From the point of the Bible she is absolutely right. Of course from a rational point of view just following the feeling of love wouldn’t be very wise because love is something that makes us do things we normally wouldn’t do. Thus in the eyes of others, it leads us to make illogical and unpredictable decisions.
Scientists can explain the process of love and how it comes about but to them it’s not a rational type of behavior at least when it comes to making decisions based on common sense.
However, this is where it got interesting for me. If normal behavior of a human is to try and survive in a life and death situation, how come love makes us do the exact opposite? Scientifically, our bodies release chemicals that produce an emotional response quantified through the actions that we exhibit. Hence when our lives are at risk, people will always fight to make it out alive. The only time a person will suppress their own will to live and show a response that’s completely different to what common sense dictates, is when they’re filled with love for another person. Strange isn’t it? If actions are based on the explanation of chemicals and hormones being released in our bodies, just because you feel good doesn’t mean you’re going to sacrifice yourself for somebody else in a life and death situation. Nonetheless that’s what love makes us do. Fathers and mothers will sacrifice themselves in order to protect and keep their children safe. Parents are willing to die if it means their children are able to live. To me, although love can be many things, love is sacrifice to save a soul. If this is something that even humans know and do, then what is the true love of God?
God came to this earth to take death away from us. To remove the shroud that enfolds all peoples; the sheet that covers all nations. This is not only true love but the greatest gift. When faced with death, a person filled with love will always sacrifice themselves in order to save another so that that person can live a little (because death comes to us all) longer. In the face of death, God did not back away from the pain but sacrificed Himself to establish the New Covenant Passover, so that we can live, not just a little longer but forever (Rev 21:5). This is true love. And though people have yet to truly understand love even if the science of love can be explained, the behavioral aspect; the benevolence and sacrifice can be seen in all creatures made by God. This is the amazing love of our God the Father, Christ Ahnsahnghong and God the Mother, Heavenly Jerusalem (WMSCOG).
